Bob Olinger set to try three miles at Punchestown festival reveals De Bromhead
Bob Olinger is set to try three miles for the first time at Punchestown on Tuesday with Henry de Bromhead excited to find out whether the dual Cheltenham Festival winner is a Gold Cup contender next season.
De Bromhead was in a state of shock after Bob Olinger was made to look ordinary by Galopin Des Champs up until the latter's dramatic departure at the final fence of the Turners' Novices' Chase, stating immediately afterwards that he "never believed any horse could make Bob Olinger look like that".
It transpired a torn muscle in Bob Olinger's near hind quarter was to blame for that, but De Bromhead reports the seven-year-old to have made good progress over the last few weeks and is winning his fitness battle to make the Grade 1 Dooley Insurance Group Champion Novice Chase on Tuesday.
