Kurious followed up her course-and-distance win last month with a rousing front-running performance to land the Coral Charge under Harry Bentley.

The Henry Candy-trained three-year-old broke well and was able to hold off a late challenge from Garrus, making his debut for Charlie Hills, with ten-year-old Caspian Prince finishing third.

Kurious has shown real affinity for Sandown and has now won three of her four runs at the track, including the Listed Scurry Stakes.

"She was really impressive and clearly acts well on the track, having won a Listed race here last time," said Bentley. "I liked the way she quickened clear and she sealed the deal nicely. There should be more to come."

The victory was Candy's first in the contest for 23 years, having previously won the then-named Sprint Stakes with Eveningperformance in 1996.

Favourite Sergei Prokofiev struggled to get going and failed to make any impression, while last year's Queen Mary winner Signora Cabello was a late withdrawal having failed to enter the stalls.
