Hang In There got the better of four rivals in the Grade 2 Supreme Trial Novices' Hurdle under Adam Wedge at Cheltenham.

The 6-1 shot, trained by Emma Lavelle, took up the running from Pacify and rounded the home turn nimbly to extend what turned out to be an unassailable lead.

Short-priced favourite Ecco failed to make an impression for Paul Nicholls and Harry Cobden.

Hang In There looks another smart hurdle prospect for Lavelle, who also has the reigining Stayers' Hurdle champion Paisley Park as part of her team.

Lavelle said: "This horse is a little terrier. He's not very big, but he's all heart. He's a really good mover, and I wasn't sure about the ground, but he's handled this the same as he's handled better ground."

Put The Kettle On pours cold water on better-fancied rivals in Arkle trial

Outsider Put The Kettle On caused an upset at Cheltenham when holding off market principals Al Dancer and Getaway Trump in the Grade 2 Arkle Trial Novices' Chase under Aidan Coleman.

The Henry de Bromhead-trained 6-1 shot set the fractions throughout and looked vulnerable coming to the second-last, only for the strong-travelling Getaway Trump to make a shuddering error that effectively ended his challenge.

Al Dancer, sent off the 7-4 favourite, was pushed along turning for home but stayed on well up the hill to be runner-up, with Rouge Vif last of the quartet.

The winner was introduced at 20-1 by Betfair Sportsbook for the Racing Post Arkle at the Cheltenham Festival. Al Dancer had been as short as the 12-1 second favourite for the Grade 1 prior to racing, but can now be backed at between 16-1 and 20-1.

Diesel D'Allier leads home French one-two in cross country chase at Cheltenham

Diesel D'Allier completed a one-two for French trainer Emmanuel Clayeux in the Glenfarclas Cross Country Handicap Chase at Cheltenham under Charlie Deutsch.

The six-year-old, sent off a 13-2 shot, fended off the attentions of stablemate and cross-country regular Urgent De Gregaine who finished four and a half lengths back in second.

Chic Name took third for Richard Hobson and James Best to fare best of the British-trained runners, while the admirable front-running 9-2 favourite Kingswell Theatre faded into fifth.

Deutsch said: "He was very fluent and jumps excellently. It was just a case of trying to find the gaps and when they came he did it really nicely. It was a good performance."

The winner was introduced at 16-1 with Paddy Power and Betfair Sportsbook for the Glenfarclas Chase at the Cheltenham Festival.
