Charlie Bond believes Marvelman has plenty in his favour in Saturday's Betfair Sprint Cup as one of northern racing's most esteemed family operations targets a first domestic Group 1 success.
Bond fulfilled an ambition to restore the black and yellow silks of his late father Reg to their former glory when winning last year's Prix de la Foret with Maranoa Charlie and sights are set on a host of big-race autumn targets with Marvelman, starting at Haydock.
The Andrew Balding-trained four-year-old was an impressive winner of the Park Stakes at Doncaster a year ago and goes into the Sprint Cup on the back of a promising third in the City of York.
