BHA investigating betting moves made before the Altior announcement

One leading bookmaker confirmed on Monday they have been speaking to the BHA regarding the betting patterns relating to the ante-post market for Saturday's Grade 2 Unibet Silviniaco Conti Chase at Kempton.

Having been confirmed on target for the race by trainer Nicky Henderson the previous Sunday, odds-on favourite Altior was a significant market drifter on Tuesday morning while stablemate Top Notch was backed for the race before betting was suspended and a message on Henderson's Twitter account ruled Altior out of the race at 11.42am.

Henderson, a paid ambassador for Unibet, revealed on Saturday that he had first contacted the BHA's integrity department at 8.45am on Tuesday morning to tell them there was a problem with Altior and that "something fishy was going on" having been contacted by a media outlet about the market drift. Altior was eventually scratched from the race on Thursday.
