The Dikler is delighted to report that a third Longines watch given to delegates to mark the 50th anniversary of the post-Arc conference organised by the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities is being offered up to boost a British racing charity.

As with the timepieces – said to be valued at £700 each – that BHA chief executive Nick Rust and chief regulatory officer Jamie Stier carried home on Eurostar, the gift picked up by the Jockey Club’s international guru Stephen Wallis was declared immediately and is now safely in the hands of the group’s charity arm Racing Welfare, ready to be auctioned at the first available opportunity.

The media missed out on Longines’ largesse in Paris, but in the same spirit of selflessness The Dikler is happy to declare some other mementoes for the benefit of racing’s good causes. Any offers for a Betfred pen and Betfair scarf?
