Day 3 Glorious Goodwood Festival preview

Ladies’ Day promises thrilling racing, with the Group 1 Nassau Stakes taking centre stage - a fitting highlight for fillies and mares, and this year’s edition looks especially exciting.

The day begins with the Magnolia Cup, a renowned charity race featuring high-profile female riders from the worlds of business, sport, fashion and media. It remains one of the most unique and inspiring events in the sport.

As for the Nassau, it regularly draws together top-class fillies and mares from across the age groups, and this year is no exception.

Leading the market is Aidan O’Brien’s Whirl. The Wootton Bassett filly has impressed in her second season, finishing a close second to stablemate Minnie Hauk in the Oaks before landing the Group 1 Pretty Polly Stakes. The Nassau is run over 1m2f - the same trip as the Pretty Polly - she arrives in top form and is the one to beat.

Andrew Balding’s See The Fire is a key rival, and punters may note that only one favourite has won the race since 2018. The Sea The Stars filly finished behind Ombudsman in the Prince of Wales’s Stakes but is still seeking her first Group 1. However, she posted a higher Racing Post Rating than Whirl when storming to a 12-length success in the Group 2 Middleton Stakes at York.

Also on Ladies’ Day is the Group 2 Richmond Stakes, a six-furlong sprint for two-year-olds, and the 1m4f Group 3 Gordon Stakes - won last year by Jan Brueghel, who has since gone on to land the Coronation Cup. The Buccellati Handicap could field up to 26 who would be fighting it out down the 5f straight and there is a 7f nursery race too.

Day 3 racing schedule + where to spend your £40 in William Hill Glorious Goodwood Festival free bets

This is Thursday's card for Glorious Goodwood:

Thursday, July 31 2025.

A great option to use one of your £10 free bet tokens on with William Hill:

Aidan O'Brien’s star filly has already banked over £390,000, and she has a golden opportunity to nearly double that in the Nassau.  Narrowly denied by stablemate Minnie Hauk in the Oaks, she doesn’t have that rival to contend with this time. She beat Kalpana in the Group 1 Pretty Polly last time, and that form was boosted when Kalpana ran a huge race to finish second in the King George. She sets a high standard.

Note, these odds are subject to change
