Which horse should you bet on at Royal Ascot day five?
With Sky Bet offering a total of £40 in Royal Ascot free bets, there are plenty of options available for you to bet on. Here are some ideas from Racing Post's Charlie Huggins:
- Lazzat to win the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes @3-1 with Sky Bet
The fact that Nurlan Bizakov felt the offer from Wathnan Racing was too big to turn down for Lazzat, suggests just how strongly the latter operation believes that the sprinter can provide Royal Ascot success. The Jerome Reynier-trained four-year-old is already a Group 1 winner and the fifth and sixth from his latest victory won in Group 2 and Group 3 company on their next starts

2025 Royal Ascot day five preview
The Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes is a Group 1 for older sprinters and is run over a furlong further than the King Charles III Stakes on Tuesday. Given the gap between the two races, some connections opt to run their star sprinters on both Tuesday and Saturday in the £1 million 6f event.
Wathan Racing’s recent purchase Lazzat is the favourite and the form of last year’s Prix Maurice de Gheest winner’s last run at Chantilly is already working out well. Lazzat finished nine lengths ahead of James’s Delight, who won at Group 2 at the Curragh on his next outing, while the sixth-placed Monteille landed a Group 3 on Prix du Jockey Club day.
Kind Of Blue was last of nine when sent off the odds-on favourite behind Monteille on that occasion but James Fanshawe’s sprinter missed the break in that 5f race. He should be more suited by the return to the same course and distance as his Group 1 victory on Champions Day, should Wathnan decide to run him as well as Lazzat.
The Group 2 Hardwicke Stakes attracts some of the best older middle-distance horses who then often go on to run in the Group 1 King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes at the same track and over the same 1m4f trip in July.
The Listed Chesham Stakes, a 7f two-year-old race and the Group 3 Jersey Stakes over the same distance means that Saturday starts off with four Pattern races. They are followed by a couple of handicaps - the Wokingham Stakes and Golden Gates Stakes - before the meeting concludes with the Queen Alexandra Stakes, the longest race run under Flat racing rules.
