Day four Glorious Goodwood Festival preview
Day four sees the world’s top sprinters clash in the Group 2 King George Qatar Stakes, a race made famous by the brilliant Battaash, who won four consecutive renewals.
With up to 30 potential runners, it promises to be a thrilling cavalry charge. Australian raider Asfoora, who failed to retain her King Charles III title at Royal Ascot, is among the leading contenders. Of the four horses who finished ahead of her at Ascot, only Frost At Daw is due to reoppose at Goodwood.
Asfoora was second in this race last year behind Big Evs, and trainer Michael Appleby looks set to rely on Big Mojo this time as he aims to maintain his strong record in the contest.
Another to watch is No Half Measures, who caused a 66-1 upset in the July Cup, beating top names including Notable Speech and Symbol Of Honour. She now bids to back that up.
Elsewhere on the card is the Group 3 Bonhams Thoroughbred Stakes, which was won last year by this year’s Lockinge winner Lead Artist for John and Thady Gosden.
Punters will also have their eyes on the Coral Golden Mile, with a £150,000 prize pot shared among the first six home. It’s a race known for its shocks, with just three winning favourites since 2008.

- 15:05 - King George Qatar Stakes (Group 2)

With Boylesports offering a total of £40 in free bets for day four of Glorious Goodwood, there are plenty of options available for you to bet on. Here is a solid each-way option:
- Fifth Column in the Golden Mile (2.30) @12-1 with Boylesports.
John and Thady Gosden’s Fifth Column was an impressive winner of a similar mile handicap at the July Festival, holding off favourite Bedouin Prince, who was ridden by William Buick. The jockey is now back aboard Fifth Column at Goodwood. Rain-softened ground won’t pose a problem should it come, and the gelding has been outside the top two just once in his last six starts, winning three of his last four.
Note, these odds are subject to change
