British racing has been told it has a "once in a generation opportunity" to revamp its programme and boost its appeal, but the sport has also been warned it has no time to waste in taking action.

Representatives of two of Britain's major gambling groups were speaking as they welcomed changes to the way the sport is governed announced this week, and who pledged to work closely with the BHA on its industry strategy work.

The BHA board has become the sport's ultimate decision-making body as part of a new governance structure for British racing agreed on Monday.
