Henderson and Johnson lead social media tributes for retiring Barry Geraghty

Leading figures from jump racing have paid tribute to weighing room great Barry Geraghty following his retirement from the saddle on Saturday night.

Geraghty announced he would end his career in a post on Twitter and by Sunday morning had received more than 1,500 replies with the likes of Nicky Henderson, Philip Hobbs and Richard Johnson among the many responding.

A Grand National winner on Monty's Pass in 2003, Geraghty won 43 times at the Cheltenham Festival, with career highlights including successes on Sprinter Sacre, Kicking King and Moscow Flyer.

Geraghty, 40, has ended his career following a brilliant Cheltenham, where he rode five winners, including Epatante in the Champion Hurdle.

Richard Johnson and Barry Geraghty have had plenty of skirmishes on the track but have big respect for each other away from it.

Nicky Henderson has been a key ally, training the likes of Sprinter Sacre, Bobs Worth and Epatante, and reflected on the good times.

Geraghty and trainer Philip Hobbs teamed up to have plenty of success with Defi Du Seuil.

Fellow jockey Tom Scudamore also pays tribute.
