Bannister eyeing return to saddle on at Warwick on Friday
Conditional jockey Harry Bannister, who has been out of action since the end of November with a wrist injury, is hoping to return to the saddle at Warwick on Friday.
“Subject to clearance by the BHA I'm planning to be back by the weekend with any luck,” said the rider.
“It’s been a long time on the sidelines, and obviously frustrating. Things were going well at the time. I was getting on some good horses and riding for different people, but you can’t dwell on these things.”
Bannister rode out for his boss Warren Greatrex in Lambourn on Wednesday morning, and added: “I feel good and a lot of the credit must go to Michael Peacock, Daloni Lucas and the team at Oaksey House. They’ve been brilliant.”
The highlight of Bannister’s season so far was partnering Greatrex’s talented six-year-old La Bague Au Roi to victory in a Listed mares’ hurdle at Newbury’s Hennessy meeting.
“She’s very exciting and it was great to win that race on her,” said Bannister.
