Baaeed and Torquator Tasso among the nominees for Cartier Horse of the Year
Shadwell's unbeaten star miler Baaeed and Arc hero Torquator Tasso feature in the four nominations for Cartier Horse of the Year.
The pair are joined by Saudi Cup, Sheema Classic and Juddmonte International winner Mishriff and St Mark's Basilica, who won four Group 1s in four starts this year before being retired to stud.
The Horse of the Year award has gone to Ghaiyyath, Enable (twice), Roaring Lion and Minding in the last five years. Arazi was the inaugural winner in 1991.
Mishriff and Torquator Tasso are also in contention for the Cartier Older Horse award along with Lady Bowthorpe and Palace Pier, while Baaeed and St Mark's Basilica are joined by Adayar and Hurricane Lane in the three-year-old colt category.
Alcohol Free, Mother Earth, Saffron Beach and Snowfall are the three-year-old filly nominees, while Stradivarius is pitched against Hurricane Lane, Subjectivist and Trueshan in his bid for a fourth consecutive stayers' award.
Godolphin are also represented in the sprinting division with Creative Force and the two-year-old colt category with the unbeaten National Stakes and Dewhurst winner Native Trail.
The awards are earned through points earned by horses in Pattern races combined with the opinions of a panel of racing journalists and handicappers and votes from Racing Post and Daily Telegraph readers. The winners will be revealed at the awards evening at the Dorchester Hotel on Wednesday.
