Ascot unable to identify racegoer who threw pint at Atzeni
Ascot has been unable to identify the racegoer who nearly hit jockey Andrea Atzeni with a plastic pint of beer on his way to post before the Duke of Edinburgh Handicap on Friday, but have placed extra security in the area from where it was thrown for the final day of Royal Ascot 2017 on Saturday.
Atzeni was left stunned when the object missed him by "a foot and a half" on Appeared, who went on to finish second behind Rare Rhythm.
It prompted a post-racing inquiry, with Ascot due to report its findings to the BHA on Saturday.
However, track officials have not identified the individual.
Paul Barton, the BHA's head of stewarding, said before racing on Saturday: "Ascot have reviewed the CCTV footage and haven't been able to identify the individual.
"They have allocated additional security staff in that area and agreed they will report back to us if and when they do identify the person who threw the plastic glass, so there's nothing more for us to do."
