It was JP's night at the Mansion House. The man who has given so much to the industry got a small token back and everyone rose to their feet as he made his way up to the stage to collect his Contribution to the Industry award. Among those applauding the legendary owner were many who would not have survived without him.

The good thing about nights like these when someone like McManus wins an award is secrets sneak out and Aidan O'Brien and Charlie Swan divulged precious information about the 2000 Champion Hurdle.

O'Brien explained how Swan did the complete opposite of what he was supposed to do on Istabraq. Instead of staying out of trouble, he went looking for some.
