Almanzor camp relishing rematch with Chantilly heroine Found

The connections of Irish Champion Stakes winner Almanzor said on Monday they have no regrets about the decision not to try to double up in the Arc, even in the knowledge that Leopardstown runner-up Found came out much the best at Chantilly on Sunday.

Almanzor had three-quarters of a length in hand over Found when the pair met in Ireland a little over three weeks ago.

The same trainer-owner team of Jean-Claude Rouget, Antonio Caro and Gerard Augustin-Normand had been aiming La Cressonniere at the Arc, but when that filly suffered a setback the camp still decided against rerouting Almanzor to Europe’s top prize, preferring to wait for their original target of the Qipco Champion Stakes at Ascot on Saturday week.
