Friday in a nutshell: market movers, going updates and latest news

Fairyland: won the Marble Hill Stakes before achieving Group 1 glory in the Cheveley Park Stakes
1 of 1

The Curragh warms up for Irish Guineas weekend with a card stacked full of quality on a day with six other meetings to whet the appetite for the weekend ahead.

Aidan O'Brien has won the Listed 6f Marble Hills Stakes (5.25) with subsequent Grade 1 winners Fairyland and Caravaggio in recent years, and the master of Ballydoyle relies on Harpocrates, King Neptune and debutant Southern Hills this time around.

Lloyd Williams' Irish Derby hero Latrobe was second in last season's 1m2f Group 3 Gallinule Stakes (7.05) and the same connections combine with the largely unexposed Buckhurst, with Donnacha O'Brien taking the ride for brother and trainer Joseph.

Aside from the Curragh, Goodwood hosts an intriguing card headed by the Listed Cocked Hat Stakes (3.30), where Private Secretary bids to vindicate John Gosden's decision to let the colt bypass the Derby.

Bath, Haydock, Pontefract, Worcester and further Irish action at Downpatrick enhance Friday's itinerary.
