Trainer Alan Jones will seek a rehearing of an unsuccessful appeal against the decision of stewards at Worcester not to reverse the placings of a bumper after it emerged one member of the independent disciplinary panel that dismissed his case should not have been sitting.

Under the terms of his position on the disciplinary panel and licensing committee, Jodie Mogford, assistant to trainer Graeme McPherson, is not eligible to sit on any cases involving a licensed trainer.

But due to what the judicial panel has described as an “administrative error”, Mogford did form part of the panel which convened on September 13 to hear Jones’ appeal against the raceday stewards’ decision not to reverse placings when the trainer’s On The Meter finished second to Simon The Great at Worcester on August 28.
