AGT loses betting ring contract but mystery surrounds identity of successful bid

The company responsible for the conduct of on-course betting has lost its contract, although the Racecourse Association has yet to reveal who will take over from them this autumn.

Administration of Gambling on Tracks Ltd (AGT), which took over the contract from the Levy Board-backed National Joint Pitch Council nearly 14 years ago, will lose the role in September following a tender process instigated last year.

AGT took over the provision of betting ring services in 2008, with betting ring managers at every course carrying out the allocation of pitches and helping to settle disputes between the bookmakers and their customers. Its current contract was awarded in 2017.
