Aga Khan Classic hopeful among three horses to note at Chantilly on Wednesday

While the Prix Texanita provides the Group action at Chantilly on Wednesday there is plenty more of interest across a ten-race card.

Prix du Belvedere (10.00)

The opening two conditions races over a mile will be well worth tuning in early for, as they have (in various different guises and at three different racecourses) offered clues for the two Poules d'Essai (French Guineas) in recent years.

First up are the colts in a race won in recent years by Zarak, Mer Et Nuages and Eagle Hunter.

If there is a Group-race performer or perhaps a Poule d'Essai des Poulains candidate in the line-up here it looks on paper to be Celestin, whose pair of wins at two including a well-contested Listed race at Toulouse.

Fabrice Chappet's representative also holds an entry for the Prix du Jockey Club, while Coronado Beach and Winwood are also engaged in both Classics.

Simeen
Prix de la Pistole (10.30)

Simeen is a 10-1 shot with Coral for the fillies' Classic on June 1 and will need to stamp her authority against five rivals to ensure a place in the line-up at Longchamp.

Trainer Jean-Claude Rouget has had a few of his seasonal debutants this week perform as if they were short of a gallop and it looks a wise precaution to have opted for this over Monday's Prix de la Grotte for the Aga Khan's homebred daughter of Lope De Vega.

Hurricane Ivor
Prix des Veneurs (12.30)

Another from the Chappet yard, Hurricane Ivor was talked of as a serious Royal Ascot candidate after bolting up by seven and a half lengths on this card 12 months ago.

He was unable to back that up on his only other start in the Group 3 Prix du Bois and it will be fascinating to see if he retains what looked to be serious talent after such an absence.
