Ado McGuinness is hoping the old adage of strength in numbers will ring true at next week's Galway festival as he prepares to saddle as many as eight runners in a quest to land the feature Colm Quinn BMW Mile Handicap for a fourth successive year.

The €120,000 contest has been a happy hunting ground for McGuinness in recent years, with the big-handicap specialist pulling off an unprecedented hat-trick, as well as winning the last two runnings of the €110,000 Irish Stallion Farms EBF Ahonoora Handicap.

Reserve Sirjack Thomas caused a 50-1 shock for McGuinness in last year's BMW Mile when the Dublin-based trainer sent out six runners, and McGuinness is guaranteed at least the same number of representatives for this year's race next Tuesday (6.40).
