A recap of Sunday's action and could we see a boost to Coroebus' form on Monday?

The 2022 Flat season is picking up pace and it is full steam ahead to the first of the Classics – the Qipco 2,000 Guineas and 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket – on April 30 and May 1 respectively.

Market movers come thick and fast as the key Classic trials are run in Britain and Ireland, but big-race contenders can come from anywhere and it's easy to miss a potential dark horse. Our Classic Clues series, which runs every morning, has you covered.

Here's a recap of the action on Sunday - with the focus switching to France for the day - and how it has impacted the Classic betting, while we mark your card with key names to note on Monday.

Racing round-up: Rosacea impresses at Longchamp while Appleby unveils an Oaks contender

While the three-year-old maidens at Newbury's Spring Trials meeting have a well-deserved reputation for unearthing decent winners, the only place to start is at Longchamp, where Rosacea cemented her burgeoning reputation when passing all eight rivals in the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches.

While the striking daughter of Soldier Hollow has an entry in the Qipco 1,000 Guineas, it is the French equivalent, the Emirates Poule d'Essai des Pouliches on May 15 that will be her Classic date with destiny.

Rosacea is 6-1 from 10-1 with Paddy Power for the Poule behind Newbury winner Wild Beauty, while her owner/breeder Jurgen Winter might well look to Britain later in the year, having won the Falmouth Stakes with Giofra in 2012, while Cladocera was third in the Duke of Cambridge Stakes at Royal Ascot in 2015.

Welwal looks to have improved from two to three and was a worthy winner of the colts' trial for France's modern master in the Classics, Jean-Claude Rouget. It was not however a performance to put British and Irish off their plans for Longchamp in a month's time.

Back in Berkshire, the dogs had been barking for Life Of Dreams ahead of her debut in the 1m2f fillies' maiden and she duly delivered in the manner befitting a horse sent off at 4-5.

She has the pedigree to be an Oaks contender and will undoubtedly take in a trial next, though quotes of 10-1 seem to be anything but generous at this stage.

Walk Of Stars was another Charlie Appleby inmate to be cut after outstaying stablemate Hafit in a conditions race over the same course and distance, and is now a best-priced 14-1 for the Cazoo Derby.

Interestingly he ran 0.2 seconds faster than Life Of Dreams, despite facing only two rivals.

What they said:

Stephane Wattel, trainer of Rosacea

"Quick ground doesn’t always suit hold up horses around here and not much has come from behind today but they went a good pace and she has such a turn of foot that the tactics are much less important.

"She has become very relaxed in her work and has developed a habit of pulling herself up once she goes past her lead horses and I half wondered if she had lost a little of her fighting spirit. But I am happy with the answer she gave there."

"We have a month of preparing for a Classic and the whole yard will enjoy it to the full."

William Buick, rider of Life Of Dreams

"She seemed comfortable. The ground is tightening up a bit but she got to the front quite easily and had a look around. She did all we can ask of her and it was a good performance.

"You have to let them run first time but I'm sure the Oaks will be considered. This is historically a good maiden and she's put herself in the picture."

All eyes on... Kempton

An Easter Monday at Kempton might not be the obvious place to go hunting for Classic clues any more but the Join Racing TV Now Conditions Stakes (2.55) has not only a 2,000 Guineas entry in the Queen's Saga, but a potential formline to one of the market leaders.

John and Thady Gosden's inmate is a 50-1 chance for the opening colt's Classic of the season but last summer he finished close up to a pair of Godolphin candidates when chasing home first Modern News and then Coroebus on his first two starts.

Saga got off the mark at the third attempt and will face three rivals for in a race whose predecessor, the Easter Stakes, produced an Eclipse winner, Elmaamul, in 1990 as well as a Derby runner-up in Master Willie a decade earlier.
