The intentions are laudable.

This is racing's latest attempt to innovate. Some past efforts have worked well, others less so. This one brings with it bundles of cash but may face an uphill battle.

For years people have sought to expand the sport's audience. The Shergar Cup was such an aim and has worked well. So, too, have Qipco British Champions Day and Good Friday's All-Weather Championship Finals afternoon. There was even once a Kempton race run to the backdrop of the William Tell Overture. More conventionally, there are now numerous post-racing music concerts.
