2022 Glorious Goodwood tips: Saturday's best bets from our Racing Post experts
Day five of Glorious Goodwood is here – but who do our top tipsters fancy most?
Classic
By Paul Kealy
Race: 1.05 Goodwood (maiden stakes)
Forecast odds: 5-6
This is only a maiden and there are plenty who could prove useful, but Classic couldn't have made a more eyecatching debut when a close fourth at Newbury a couple of weeks ago. Having missed the kick, he was held up at the rear and had to wait a couple of times for a run, and was then only tenderly handled as he was still green. Had he been a bit more streetwise he'd have won easily, and the form received a boost when the well-beaten fifth won at Salisbury on Thursday night.
Sea La Rosa
By Owen Goulding
Race: 2.45 Goodwood (Lillie Langtry Stakes)
Forecast odds: 2-1
Started her campaign with a Group 3 victory at Haydock in May and posted a career-best effort on RPRs when second to Free Wind in the Lancashire Oaks last time. Soft ground would have been far from ideal that day, so it's easy to upgrade that effort, and she remains unexposed for her top connections. She has to concede lumps of weight to Emily Dickinson but should have the class to do just that.
Chil Chil
By Tom Segal
Race: 3.20 Goodwood (Stewards' Cup)
Forecast odds: 10-1
She is clearly a top-class sprinter when she gets her conditions and will relish the quick ground at Goodwood. We have only seen Chil Chil once since last season when she was too free behind Minzaal at Newbury recently, but that should have put her spot on for this and the icing on the cake is the Harry Davies 5lb claim. The worry is whether she will have any pace to chase, but from stall 11 the jockey has options and she could be a class above her rivals.
Saturday previews:
1.40 Goodwood: 'We've frightened a few people off' – which in-form type might take the beating?
2.10 Goodwood: 'We've got him in a very good place' – who has high Summer Handicap hopes?
2.45 Goodwood: 'She wasn't far behind Sea La Rosa at Haydock' – Lillie Langtry quotes
3.20 Goodwood: 'We've got the right man on top' – who is keen on their Stewards' Cup runner?
