Ballyoptic had some high-class form as a novice last season. He lost ground from a standing start in the Becher Chase on his return but had moved into a good position when falling at halfway. Incredibly, Nigel Twiston-Davies' Bindaree had fallen in the same race before his victory in 2003.

A marathon in testing conditions is ideal for Yala Enki. He won at Haydock in February over just short of this trip on heavy ground and was game in a surprise reappearance victory at Bangor. He is now on a career-high mark of 154, which Master Oats equalled when winning in 1994 and Native River bettered by a pound two seasons ago.
