York Placepot tips: Tom Segal unpicks the Sunday action on the Knavesmire
There aren't many better trainers of sprinters than Michael Dods and he looks to have two good chances of adding to his already impressive York tally.
Gale Force Maya is a fine example of Dods's prowess as she has never finished out of the frame at York and keeps on improving. On her third to Flotus over course and distance, she will be hard to keep out of things in the Garrowby Stakes (2.55).
Azure Blue is another Dods sprinter on the upgrade and she looks sure to go close in the second leg (2.20), although it might be wise to include Pink Crystal as this is a competitive contest and she ran well over a trip too sharp at the Ebor meeting.
Signora Camacho is no Highfield Princess for John Quinn but she is a juvenile on a steep upward curve and is worth banking on in the nursery (3.30), while Squealer caught the eye over 5f in the Listed Roses Stakes here recently and is the one to beat in the opener (1.45).
The final two races are more complicated but David O'Meara's horses tend to run well at York and Eeetee was impressive at Redcar last time. He can hit the frame in the last leg (4.40) but I would also throw in Mr Big Stuff, who looked a three-year-old to follow at the start of the season and has been gelded after a below-par effort at Ascot in July.
The fifth leg (4.05) is wide open and strong cases can be made for loads. Marginal preference is for Arabescato, who ran a cracker at huge odds at Glorious Goodwood, and Atacama Desert, who is unexposed and could improve again upped in trip.
