UAE Prince
Fourth, 1m2f handicap, Goodwood, Tuesday, August 4
This one-time Derby contender looked a picture of health and may well have won with a clearer run. Towards the rear, he made up his ground coming around the final bend but had to be switched off heels and had nowhere to go. When a gap finally appeared he finished strongly. He has plenty more scope for improvement.

Fabricate, who got a touch warm in the preliminaries, was handed the race in the stewards’ room. He received a bump near the line, but his jockey never stopped riding and I felt he was a shade fortunate.

Khairaat is a big, scopey type and was the paddock pick. However, he was not helped by being drawn in stall 16 and, having been dropped in, he made up a lot of ground on the outside which meant he had little left at the end. I am sure there is a decent handicap to be won with him this year.
The tall, leggy Garcia looked well, as did Abdon, Bravery and Oasis Fantasy.
