Winners in waiting: four early-season two-year-olds it could pay to follow

The Flat is back, which means a brand new crop of juveniles to get stuck in to. From early sprinting types to those who will be seen benefiting from longer trips, the season offers the chance to find next-time-out winners and horses for the future. Here's the first instalment for the new campaign.

Tizwotitiz
Doncaster, March 24, 7th

This year's Brocklesby looks like it should provide some winners in the early part of the season and Steph Hollinshead's colt is at the top of that list.

On the far side of the track, Tizwotitiz raced without cover and his position looked more unfavourable come the end as the action unfolded on the stands' side.

He looked in need of the experience, along with plenty in the race, but was not beaten far and should come on for the initial outing.

He has an entry at Bath on Friday and if conditions remain testing, it should suit as his pedigree suggests he handles slower ground.

Bath, March 30, 3rd

The market suggested this Mark Johnston-trained colt could trouble Brocklesby winner Izzer on his debut at Bath, with the pair sent off 5-4 joint favourites.

He was able to lay up with Izzer for much of the race, before the testing ground took its toll and he faded into third.

He wasn't given a hard time once his chance had gone and he ran promisingly enough to suggest he should be able to get his head in front next time, especially on a sounder surface.

Disruptor
Kempton, April 7, 5th

A slow start compromised any chance this colt had of making a winning start, but there was a lot to like about his debut.

Last early on, the son of Siyouni closed all the way to the line under hands and heels, finishing an eyecatching fifth under John Egan.

Disruptor is entered at Newbury on Friday, and would be particularly interesting if the going is on the good side as he really grabs at the ground with his noticeable daisycutter action.

Sesame
Wolverhampton, April 14, 5th

This filly was drawn widest of all in stall 11 for her debut, which did her no favours. She was always posted wide and, having shown some early speed, she couldn't keep that pace up into the straight.

She did stay on, though, shaping as if the whole experience should bring her on plenty. Better should be expected on her next couple of outings.

Trainer to note

Mick Channon has made a fast start and is always worth following at this time of year, but David O'Meara has had one winner from two juvenile runners and he could send out more of his two-year-old team this week.

His winner, Mayson Mac, was quite taking at Musselburgh, and he looks to have some nice early types on paper.

Sire to note

First-season stallion Bungle Inthejungle was a pocket rocket on the track and the early signs are that his progeny have inherited his speed.

Two winners from his first nine runners is a good start, and there should be plenty more in the pipeline.
