I was very keen on the Bryan Smart-trained Alpha Delphini when he reappeared in the Palace House at Newmarket, but he was compromised by stall two (first five drawn 12, 11, 14, eight and ten) and in the circumstances he did well to finish eighth of 16.

I still think he’s capable of playing a starring role at Royal Ascot and, if I’m right, he’ll need to win or go close in the Group 2 Temple Stakes on Saturday.

Richard Fahey landed Haydock’s Silver Bowl with Garcia last year and can strike again with Areen Heart.
