Ten days. Ten sleeps. Ten days to lose some hard-earned festival funds. There are, of course, more optimistic folk among us who regard those ten days as the perfect time to beef up your bank but it would be a travesty not to back Djakadam in the Timico Cheltenham Gold Cup because you had too much on an odds-on shot on the all-weather at Newcastle tonight.

So the advice is to sit tight and bet small, especially at Navan where the fare is moderate and there are a whole host of odds-on shots who are not exactly bullet-proof.
