Horseplayers are treated to one of the best nights of US action all year this Saturday as Keeneland's fall meet begins alongside a stellar card at Belmont.

Sword Dancer one-two Gufo and Japan clash once again in the featured Grade 1 Joe Hirsch Turf Classic (8.57) at Belmont but, although I prefer the former, there are better punting opportunities.

The streak of consecutive best bet winners in this column currently stands at seven, and hopefully the Bill Mott-trained Baby Yoda will make that eight in the Grade 2 Vosburgh Stakes (7.45).

This lightly raced three-year-old produced one of the fastest times this year with a 114 Beyer in an allowance race at Saratoga last month. Baby Yoda galloped away from his rivals after sitting close to extremely fast fractions and a similar performance would more than suffice. The removal of Lasix is not an issue.

You can make a case for plenty in the following Grade 3 Matron Stakes (8.15), but the value play might be Lady Danae, who bolted up on debut at Saratoga before struggling in a minor Stakes race at Kentucky Downs.

That unique turf track can catch horses out, especially two-year-old sprinters, and she's fancied to return to winning ways from a nice draw in gate four.

The first of three Grade 1s at Keeneland is the $400,000 First Lady Stakes (9.44), in which Harvey's Lil Goilmust have a good chance of beating the European raiders under Junior Alvarado.

She was perhaps unfavoured by the switch to dirt last time and now returns to her favourite surface at a track where she recorded her biggest victory, which came at this meet last year. I like her recent Saratoga works.

Finally, there was little not to like about 's debut (broke well and drew clear in a good time) and although he has been drawn in the carpark in gate 13, he may just be too good for his opposition in the $500,000 Claibourne Futurity (10.15). His chance relies on a good break, though.
