US racing tips: Shane Ketteridge has two selections on Saturday night

Cairo Consort
9.10pm Gulfstream Park
2pts win

Moon Cat
10.09pm Gulfstream Park
1pt win

The Ginger Brew Stakes at Gulfstream Park sees nine three-year-old fillies go to post over a mile on the turf and the standout is Todd Pletcher’s filly in stall three, Cairo Consort, who was last seen finishing third in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf.

This is a filly of some potential. After breaking her maiden at Woodbine at the third attempt she was then pitched straight into stakes company at the same course and won by an easy two and a half lengths under a hand ride from Antonio Gallardo.

That was some effort over an extended 6f trip and she followed it up with a second-placed effort in a Grade 1 before lining up at Keeneland in the Breeders’ Cup.

Aidan O’Brien’s Meditate was an easy winner of that race but she ran an outstanding race in third, keeping on well at the finish whilst giving the impression she could have a fruitful campaign as a three-year-old.

There is much more to come from her and it would be disappointing if she couldn't win this.

Christopher Davis’s Moon Cat was a big eyecatcher when finishing fourth on debut last month and this son of Malibu Moon is taken to strike on his second start under top jockey Irad Ortiz Jr.

He showed up well but just tired late over the extended mile trip, so this drop back to an extended 7f should be ideal.

There should be plenty of improvement to come from that run and I really fancy his chances from a perfect draw in stall six.
