US racing tips: Shane Ketteridge has a strong fancy on Santa Anita's card

There are plenty of fantastic races in store on Saturday on what promises to be a superb day of racing in the US with some top-class horses lining up across the country.

The focus is on the Santa Anita card and race four, where course specialist Brickyard Ride lines up in the $200,000 Grade 2 San Carlos Stakes.

The Craig Anthony Lewis-trained five-year-old has ten victories to his name, all of which have come at this course, which include four black type wins and an impressive four-length victory in this race last year.

This is a horse with outstanding gate speed. He has won the majority of his races by blasting out of the gates to gain an early lead, whilst possessing a 'catch me if you can' attitude with no signs of slowing down.

He is quick enough for 6f and has the stamina to win over a mile, as was shown with two wins from two starts so far this year, so this 7f is perfect for him and he'll take some catching from stall one under Juan Hernandez, who was onboard for those last two victories.

The Doug O'Neill-trained Happy Jack was a convincing winner over 6f on debut at Santa Anita in January before disappointing in a Grade 3 just two weeks later, but that race came too soon and he can bounce back in the Grade 2 San Felipe Stakes, which is a key trial for the Kentucky Derby.

On breeding he will be well suited to this step up in trip as his sire Oxbow has the likes of the high-class Hot Rod Charlie as his offspring, so that certainly bodes well for his future.

He is highly thought of by O'Neill, who won this race in 2007 with Cobalt Blue, and has much more to offer. He can put that disappointing effort last time firmly behind him.
