Tote Scoop6 tips: a banker in the last for Saturday's rollover at Ascot

There is a six-figure win fund and even more sitting in the bonus fund before a pound is put into this week's Scoop6.

Throw in the make-up of the bet this week, with field sizes at Ascot limited to ten runners, and it becomes an opportune week to take a punt on one of racing's most lucrative pool bets.

With a set unit stake of £2, a solo punter needs to keep things tight. Identify a couple of bankers (one selection in the race) and work outwards from there.

The reserve system at Ascot complicates things. The advice is to place the bet as late as you can. If Dusky Lord gets a run in the opening sprint, he can be the sidekick to main selection Manaccan. If he does not, the well-treated Judicial gets that slot.

There is also a reserve prominent in the betting for the Stayers (2.45), although Red Force One's participation is unlikely to affect my approach, so include Rock Eagle and Themaxwecan.

I quite fancy Southern Voyage in the 3.20, but he is not banker material and needs Pride Of Priory as a back-up. In the 4.30 put in recent Chester winner Sheer Rocks and Berkshire Breeze, beaten a head and a neck in his last two outings.

The two bankers are quite late on the card: Montassib (3.55) and Admiral D (5.05). The former will likely find this much less exacting than the top-class handicaps in which he has been placed the last two times. Admiral D is in a warm race, but he is a strong fancy in the closing race.

The banker-in-the-last trick is an old favourite with multi-leg Tote bets, as it makes hedging straightforward, although with the money involved in a Scoop6 return, this is recommended only to experienced bettors.
