The York Placepot pool is guaranteed for £100,000, and Izuba made such an encouraging debut at Ascot that he will surely be hard to beat in the opening juvenile maiden (1.30), but three of the big-field handicaps on the card are going to take much more sorting out.

Sprint handicaps at York are always difficult puzzles to solve (2.05), but Kinnalargy could have improved for a wind operation and ran well over the course and distance in July.

He goes in the perm along with Oriental Prince, who is better than he showed at Hamilton last time.

Trainer James Owen is double-handed in the 2m handicap (2.40) but it's the improving High Fibre who makes most appeal. He is on a hat-trick after winning over hurdles and back on the Flat last time.

Rock N Roll Pinkie races off a 3lb lower mark than when winning this race a year ago and goes in, too.

It could be a good day for Al Shaqab Racing because two of their well-bred horses look sure to go well, including Besieged, a son of the top-class Snow Lantern.

He makes his handicap debut off what could be a lenient mark in the 1m2f contest (3.15), while Behike looks a sprinter going places after his impressive win in France. He is banker material in the Garrowby Stakes (3.50).

Trainer Jim Goldie is dangerous in big-field handicaps such as the concluding Placepot race over 7f (4.25). He is also in good form, so after an excellent run over course and distance last time, Woohoo is fancied to make the frame.

She goes in the perm along with Houquetot, who put up an improved effort at Newmarket last time.
