York Placepot tips: Graeme Rodway returns to give his selections for a £150,000 guaranteed pool

Our tipster with his picks for the popular Tote bet

Deputy betting editor

There is a £150,000 guaranteed Placepot pool for the Premier meeting at York and the opening 7f handicap (1.50) could be between Dashing Darcey and Palmar Bay. Put both in.

The Queen Mother’s Cup Handicap (2.25) is next up and there could be an upset here. Financer is my idea of the winner, but don’t discount Glistening Nights at a big price.

Al Qareem and Absurde look the two to concentrate on in the 1m6f Listed race (3.00), while the 6f handicap (3.35) could be between Brigid’s Cloak and Marchogion, so both are included.

The 6f maiden (4.10) is tricky because those who have run don’t set a fierce standard. Stick with the newcomers Tactical Formation and Yy Nation, who represent big stables.

Obelix is an old favourite and he is 1lb lower than when only two and a half lengths behind subsequent winner Mirsky at Thirsk last time. Bank on him in the 1m1f handicap (4.45) to keep the number of lines sensible.
