Sandown Placepot tips: Graeme Rodway's selections for a £50,000 guaranteed pool

The Tote’s £50,000 Placepot guarantee is at Sandown on Friday and the opening 2m juvenile hurdle (12.35) might be a test of stamina up the hill. Kaldoun Des Rocs wears a hood first time so might be free and that is a worry, so put Thewoodcorner and Pourquoi Pas Papa in.

There are only two places on offer in the following 1m7½f handicap chase (1.10) and it’s a trappy little race. Dan Skelton has won the last two runnings and saddles Northern Air, so he can be included, but Keep Running also has solid form claims for Warren Greatrex’s stable.

The following Winter Novices' Hurdle (1.45) will probably go to the Paul Nicholls-trained No Drama This End. However, put in Top Jimmy and the unnamed favourite too. If No Drama This End is placed then we will double lines, but if not a lot of the pool will go out with him.

The winner will be needed in the 3m Grade 2 novice chase (2.20) so include Doyen Quest and Quebecois, while Champagne Twist rates a banker for the 3m handicap chase (2.55).

Marche D’Aligre and Torrent are two of my best bets of the day and go in for the 2m handicap hurdle (3.30).
