Sandown Placepot tips: Graeme Rodway with his selections for a £100,000 guaranteed pool

The Tote are putting up a £100,000 guarantee for the Placepot at Sandown and the opening Listed novice hurdle (12.10) kicks things off. I’m keen to take on the likely favourite Sober Glory here and prefer the Dan Skelton-trained Soldier Reeves. Hurricane Pat is also included.

The 2m4f mares’ handicap hurdle (12.43) comes up next and it’s really difficult. Harry Derham has booked Sean Bowen for Dramatic Encore and she goes in with Just A Rose.

Lavender Hill Mob looks certain to improve for the step up in trip in the 2m7½f handicap hurdle (1.20) and is probably the best option for a banker, given that there are only eight runners and three places will be available.

I’m keen to take on Lulamba in the four-runner Henry VIII Novices’ Chase (1.50) and will take a chance on leaving him out and including rivals Alnilam, Be Aware and Lump Sum.

The 2m handicap hurdle (2.25) looks like it could be between course lover Go Dante and Afadil, while the Tingle Creek (3.00) is another in which to include two. Libberty Hunter is my fancy at a big price, but favourite Il Etait Temps also goes in the perm.
