Newton Abbot Placepot tips: Graeme Rodway with his perm for the £50,000 guaranteed pool

The Tote’s £50,000 Placepot guarantee is at Newton Abbot and the opening 2m1f handicap hurdle (2.25) is really tricky as the winner is needed, and it’s difficult to discount any of them. I’ll play it safe and put Sergeant Fury, Gore Point and Bobby’s Fortune in.

Another small field in the following 2m1f juvenile hurdle (2.57) makes things difficult. Trainer Bill Turner won the race in 2021, so put his It’s Life in alongside Irish raider Dignam.

Only five are declared for the 3m2f handicap chase (3.32) that comes next and the two who catch my eye here are Great D’Ange and Invictus Allen, so put them in the perm.

The 2m2½f handicap hurdle (4.07) is more open than the market would suggest and a few outsiders look good. Zufal and Polly Pi go in with the lightly weighted Masonbrook Meadow.

It will be interesting to see what Dorrells Pierji can do on his second run back out of point-to-points in the 3m2½f handicap hurdle (4.42) and he goes in with Halifax, while the final 2m5f handicap chase (5.17) can go to Ryder’s Rock. She is a banker provided eight run.
