James Owen has bagged nearly 30 winners on the all-weather already this year, and his Market House looks by far the most solid contender for the opener (4.26) at Newcastle.
I wouldn't want to bank on him in the Placepot, though, given there are only seven runners, and will add Traila, who has shaped better than his most recent finishing positions.
There are plenty of promising types in the following novice (5.00), with the form hard to equate, but my top two would be Soul Love and Silent Strike.
In the next (5.30), the improving Jez Bomb still looks reasonably treated if fit after a short break, while Carron is 2-3 on the all-weather and will find this easier than the tough handicaps he's been running in at Meydan.
In the fourth (6.00), Al Muqdad is becoming well handicapped again, while Golden Strike has been in good form lately and is sill some way off his peak mark from a couple of years ago.
If there is a banker on the card it might be Flowstate in the fifth (6.30). He didn't get the run of the race under a claimer at Southwell last time, but took his course-and-distance record to 1511 when scoring in commanding fashion the time before and evidently likes it at Newcastle.
Moyowasi will be a short price in the final leg (7.00) under a penalty, but didn't run that well on his sole start at this track, so I would add Mr Fustic, who shaped nicely on his return from a break last time.
