Newbury Placepot tips: Paul Kealy with his perm for the £50,000 guaranteed pool

The Tote’s £50,000 Placepot guarantee is at Newbury on Friday and the opener (2.25) looks a proper minefield, with very few in decent form. My three would be Spirit Lead Me, who is becoming well handicapped, Geo, who has run close here on her last two starts, and Lady Of The Isles, who shaped okay on her run last time that qualified her for a handicap mark.

Those with form in the next (3.00) haven't shown that much, so a chance is taken on well-bred newcomers Morbeh and Ruler Of Time.

The following maiden (3.35) tends to be a moderate affair and Sing The Blues should reach the level normally required if coming on just a bit for her debut third. Tarot appeals of the newcomers.

Wise Approach has easily the best form in leg four (4.10), but they're all mostly unexposed and I like Amorim the most.

Star Of LIght is the forecast favourite for the next (4.45), but she doesn't look straightforward, and preferred are Orchard Keeper, who has largely been in good form and battled on well to win last time, and Typical Woman, who may appreciate going back up in trip.

In the final leg (5.20) Golden Handshake doesn't look particularly well treated on his handicap debut, but William Haggas is a master at getting horses nicely handicapped for winning bad races, and it won't be a surprise if he's another. Sourdough, who should improve for the extra distance, is the other selection.
