Haydock Placepot tips: Tom Segal with his perm for the £75,000 guaranteed pool

Some really competitive big-field handicaps make the Haydock Placepot a minefield, but Acrisius is an improving three-year-old against a host of exposed sprinters, so in order to keep the perm manageable he might be worth banking on in the feature 5f sprint (5.15).
As those with form don't look that great in the two-year-old maiden (4.45), newcomer No Direction is suggested. His trainer Karl Burke had another first-time-out winner at this track on Friday night and he won't have to be brilliant to reach the frame.
The other races are difficult and at least a couple of shots in each leg will probably be required. In the opener (3.45) Big Sip looks the type to improve again for his new trainer, while there is no reason why the bottom weight Penelope's Sister won't run her usual consistent race.
Better And Better wasn't beaten far on his nursery debut at Ascot recently and should go close in a similar race (4.15). He goes in along with Vlad, who seemed to improve for being gelded when getting off the mark at Windsor last time.
In the mile handicap that concludes the Placepot (6.15), the two sons of Kingman, Leadenhall and Mr King are far from the most consistent horses in training but they have more than enough class to win a race of this calibre if they put their best foot forward, while Powdering might have a class edge in the fillies' handicap over 7f (5.45).
Powdering will appreciate the return to 7f having run well over shorter at Goodwood last time and goes in along with Mollie Foster, who is much less exposed.
