Doncaster Placepot Tips: Tom Segal with his selections for a £100,000 guaranteed pool

With so many runners on the Doncaster card, the Placepot could get expensive but there might be some horses worth banking on in order to keep it manageable, starting with the Irish challenger Queen Of Mougins in the Sceptre Stakes (4.10).

She looked better than ever on her debut for her new trainer recently and was a bit unlucky not to win this race last season.

Derby winning-jockey Adam Kirby gets the leg up on Moonjid in the Leger Legends (3.35) and I think his mount will be suited by the drop to a mile. Any rain shouldn't bother him and he can be relied on, along with Something Splendid, who is in great form and should at least hit the frame in the second division of the I Love Julie Parkes Handicap (1.55).

The first division (1.20) of that race is much more open but Forest Caper should go well, while Bluecoltrane is open to plenty of improvement having been gelded since we last saw him.

The 6½f handicap (3.00) is wide open too and cases can be made for many of the runners. Oliver Show, who was unlucky not to win the Lincoln at this track, is first on the list. The consistent Pocklington undoubtedly has a race like this in him and he will go well too if he handles the likely soft ground.

Finally, God Of War seemed to win a decent race with a bit up his sleeve at Sandown last time and a 3lb rise looks on the lenient side. He is fancied to run well again in the Betfred City Of Doncaster Handicap (2.30), along with Pietro, who is improving and is another that won't mind if it rains.
