Doncaster Placepot tips: Graeme Rodway with his selections for the £100,000 guaranteed pool

The Tote’s £100,000 Placepot guarantee is available on the opening day of the St Leger meeting at Doncaster and Bearin Up is one of my best bets in the 6½f fillies’ nursery (1.15). However, it’s also worth including Half Sovereign, who is going for four wins on the bounce.

The Weatherbys Scientific £300,000 2-Y-O Stakes (1.50) comes up next and the two who look most solid are form choice Jel Pepper and lightly-raced improver Calendar Girl.

Moon Target is likely to be a warm order for the Betfred May Hill Stakes (2.25) and is included alongside Sugar Island and the unnamed favourite, just in case there is a gamble.

The Betfred Park Hill Fillies’ Stakes (3.00) is the feature and Danielle sets a high standard. However, it’s also worth including her stablemate Crepe Suzette, who is improving rapidly.

Devil’s Advocate and Respond should be included in the 1m2f handicap (3.35), while Mr Writer rates a banker in the 7f handicap (4.10). He finished behind three subsequent winners when fifth at Newbury last time and one of them was Gowan, who took the Acomb at York.
