Chester Placepot picks: Paul Kealy's perm for the £100k guaranteed pool

Chester's opener (1.30) gives higher-drawn horses more of a chance than most races as there's a furlong to the first turn over 71/2f, but it would still be hard to leave Two Tempting, from stall one, out of the Placepot perm, as he ran a cracker at Newbury last time and has won here.

Transcending Glory and Gorak, two who will be up with the pace early, are my other two suggestions.

Why a six-runner maiden needs terrestrial television coverage is beyond me, but that's what comes next (2.05). Ammes has just about the best form, while Al Wasl Storm ran well last time and has a Derby entry, although that looks ambitious given he's by a jumps sire who ran only twice.

In the next (2.35), The Foxes seems to be better than ever and has a fair edge on form against this lot, especially as he has stall one and can make the running, so he's a banker despite only two places to go for.

The Chester Cup (3.05) is obviously difficult, so I'll go with three from single-figure stalls. They're hardly original choices, but one of East India Dock, Caballo De Mar and Hot Fuss should surely hit the frame.

Let's Dream is my speculative pick for the fifth (3.40), while Warda Jamila is a much more obvious contender having shaped really well on his return at Epsom for Andrew Balding, who does so well here.

There's an apprentice handicap to finish (4.10) and plenty of runners, but you can certainly see the case for the hat-trick-seeking Sportingsilvermine with the promising Mason Paetel taking off 7lb.

He's hard to leave out, while I'll add Small Fry, who is largely consistent when running on the Flat and is a course winner drawn in stall two.
