Chepstow Placepot tips: Tom Segal with his selections for a £50,000 guaranteed pool

Given his connections, Celtic Dino will have had the Welsh Champion Hurdle at Chepstow (3.17) as his early season goal. He looks like Placepot banker material as he always goes well fresh and likes decent ground.

The other banker on the card is Settle Down Jill in the novice hurdle for mares (2.07). She has much the best form and has already had a run, but the other races look more difficult and will probably need more than one in the perm.

Ajp Kingdom and Safe Destination both have a good recent run on their record so look the safest choices in the opening staying handicap chase (1.32), while Dan Skelton looks to have a stranglehold on the 2m3½f handicap chase (3.52) as he saddles five of the eight runners. Harry Skelton has chosen Jet Plane. He goes in along with Riskintheground, who will love the quick ground.

Blueking D'Oroux stands out in the novice chase (2.42) but it's risky to bank on any horse on their chasing debut. He should win if he gets round, but Gordon Elliott brings over Speculatrix and she's worth putting in too in case anything happens to the favourite.  

The concluding Placepot race might be the most competitive on the whole card and with the Twiston-Davies team in such good form Moveit Like Minnie is included, along with King William Rufus, who has more improvement left in him.
