Ascot Placepot tips: Paul Kealy's perm for the £50,000 guaranteed pool

Look Back Smiling is potentially well handicapped for in-form Gemmy Tutty in the Ascot opener (1.45) and he is first on the list for the Placepot on a tricky day.

There are others who could be major players on their best form, but Walsingham is the one who looks to be improving and is the most obvious back-up.

All eyes are going to be on Baaeed's brother Raaheeb in the next (2.20), but I wouldn't be sure about banking on any newcomer on bad ground. Pompette shaped well enough on his debut and gave the impression he'd appreciate some cut, so he goes in too.

In the third (2.55), Maneuver was well held when odds-on for her debut, but she still has the best form and the Fillies' Mile entry will be hard to beat if handling the ground, while Wild Rosie was just getting the hang of things on her debut and should do better here.

There's very little to go on in the next (3.30) as well, with Watcha Snoop arguably the form pick and Hvar an interesting newcomer.

Thankfully there is an awful lot more to go on in the final two races, with Fine Interview, Brave Mission and Lord Bertie the three who are preferred in the fifth (4.05).

Three-year-olds have a good record in the last leg (4.40), with High Degree and Accentuate looking the pick, while of the older horses Balmacara has a right chance on the pick of his soft-ground form.
