Perception is a funny thing. Two horses ran at the weekend who could conceivably meet in the Hennessy on their next start, one was cut and is now favourite (Native River) while one was lengthened in a few places and stayed the same price with the rest of the bookies (Blaklion).

You would think that Native River had run well and Blaklion not, but that simply wasn't the case and to my mind Blaklion ran a perfect Hennessy prep if that is where connections are going.

He finished fourth, only five lengths adrift of Cue Card despite being rated officially 22lb inferior, and only gave way in the home straight when lack of a recent run had presumably taken a toll.
