Tom Segal with his Placepot perm on a classy Sandown card

The Cheltenham and Aintree winner Chantry House is the star attraction at Sandown in the John O'Leary Memorial Future Stars Intermediate Chase (2.10).

Despite facing only one rival, it will be no cakewalk giving 6lb to the classy and race-fit The Big Breakaway. Consequently, it might be safest to put both in any Placepot perm.

It's also worth having a couple in the novice handicap chase (1.00). Although Fifty Ball is the obvious choice on his second to Soaring Glory in the Betfair Hurdle, Sandown is a tricky jumping track for a novice and the experienced Irish raider O Connell Street is worth including.

Charlie Longsdon has an excellent record in veterans' chases (3.15), especially around this track, and Vivas looks sure to go well after his excellent recent run behind Some Chaos at Chepstow.

He's the safe choice, but include Wandrin Star as well because he is best fresh and has dropped to a nice mark.

In order to keep the perm manageable it's worth banking on Bombs Away in the Esher Maiden Hurdle (1.35). He shaped well in a bumper on his only start and a couple of his half-brothers have been decent hurdlers.

On To Victory hasn't been as good over hurdles as his Flat form suggests he should be, but it will be disappointing if he can't win the Kingston Handicap Hurdle (2.45).

Similar sentiments apply to Beauport in the opening Hampton Court Conditional Jockeys' Handicap Hurdle (12.30). He won the EBF Final over course and distance by 11 lengths and with the Twiston-Davies team in great form, he can overcome his rise in the weights.
