Uttoxeter Placepot picks: Tom Segal with a manageable Placepot perm on Sunday

The novice chase (4.00) might just be the most informative jumps race run in Britain so far this season with the chasing debut of Galway Hurdle runner-up and Scottish Champion Hurdle winner Milkwood.

If the ground is decent, he is the one to beat but he wouldn't want too much rain and for perm purposes it might be worth siding with Betfair Hurdle fourth Annual Invictus and the prolific Faivoir.

Crossley Tender is 10lb lower over hurdles than he is over fences and looks a banker in the 2m7½f handicap hurdle (4.35), while Orchard Grove put up a much improved performance at Stratford in August. He will be hard to keep out of the places in the first division of the handicap hurdle (2.47).

Gaia Vallis looks the solid option in the second division (3.22) after her improved effort at Fontwell last month, but the opening two contests look trickier to solve and it might pay sticking a couple in any perm as a consequence.

Mister Sweets and Unanswered Prayers look two of the more likely contenders in the maiden hurdle (1.37) but there are at least three others that make as much appeal.

Similarly, the handicap chase (2.12) looks wide open, but Summit Like Herbie is back on his last winning mark and Dawn Raider wasn't beaten far at Uttoxeter last time.
